Less Hair Anyone?

So, here is my dilemma every summer........BODY HAIR!!! Even after having 3 kids and having 10 pounds I still need to lose, shockingly the bathing suit ain't the problem, it's the body hair. We're talking armpits, bikini, legs and face. I hate it and the minute I have enough money saved up, you better believe that the first thing I'm doing is lazer hair removal, but until then I have a back up plan...."Nair Wax Strips".

They are awesome, and if you can't afford to go to a salon every week like me, they are the next best thing. The wax is already on the strips, so there is NO mess and you just warm them up by rubbing one between your hands and then applying in the appropriate area. Unfortunately, you have to be pretty brave when waxing yourself or you can just get someone you trust to do it.

Needless to say, I'm hoping for a relatively hairless summer as I stomp around in a bathing suit this summer. Yippee! (in a sarcastic tone)

p.s. you can purchase these at any Wal-Mart :)

Winter Break in April?

This is what it looks like outside today, on the kids first day of Spring Break. Chandler said, "It should be called "Winter Break" not "Spring Break" -- I would have to agree! Needless to say, we got in the car and went to the Bean Museum, which the kids loved and then we met up with mom and Brett for lunch. So far so good, however I'm gonna need to figure out a few more things that will entertain the kids this week. Yay for me!

Double take

Eli has never watched more than 30 seconds of television EVER! And sometimes for my own sanity I wish he would, but the other day I found him in my room watching "iCarly" on Nickelodeon and I watched as he stared at the t.v. for 6 minutes. A new record for the kid and what was more astonishing was that it wasn't a cartoon. I think I'm going to need to breakout Mary Poppins or something :)

Dental Blues

Well, it had been over a year since my kids had seen a dentist, so I was a tad frightened by what we might find....boy, was I right.

Eli only has eight teeth, so he wasn't a huge concern yet.
Sierra has no cavities, but needs to floss often.
Chandler, my poor son! Because we have neglected his back teeth he is having one of his molars removed tomorrow, and he will need a root canal with a silver cap and 2 cavities done. He doesn't have enough space in his mouth for all the adult teeth that will be coming soon, so the dentist has predicted that he will need orthodontia. Sounds VERY familiar. I was not fully prepared to hear the word orthodontia -- I thought I had awhile, bummer! He is 8 1/2 and has only lost 2 teeth, however his two front teeth are both loose, YAY!

My children come from both ends of the spectrum....David and his other 6 siblings did not need orthodontia, however, ALL 6 of the Shumway kids have needed it, so I guess we will see who get's what in regards to gene's.

I Hate This Part - "Pussycat Dolls"

I would have put the official video up, however this group tends to be a little too sexy! So enjoy.

Pinewood Derby

This was Chandler's first pinewood derby, and he had such a great time! He named his car "Quickster" (from Spongebob, of course) and received an award for "Best Aerodynamics". He placed 2nd, 3rd and 4th a bunch of times, and swears that next year he is going to get first! Your awesome Chandler, way to go!

The end of an era :(

Sierra is almost 6 years old and she has no more gorgeous curl left in her hair, and I am very sad! Not only is it hard to get used to her having straight hair (cause it makes her look older), but figuring out how to do it is a real challenge. I don't know how to do straight hair on her -- only curly. We both are adjusting to say the least.
I do want to make a shout out to my husband and his genetic gene pool for blessing Sierra with such beautiful curls, even if it was for a short time. No matter what though, curly or straight, she will always be exquisite to her dad and I.

My kids' obssesion!

Since the airing of the 2006 Kids' Choice Awards on Nickelodeon, Chandler and Sierra have been hooked. We are hug fans of the channel and the kids watch a majority of their t.v. watching on this channel....Spongebob Squarepants, iCarly, Drake & Josh and so on and so forth.

Every year the kids get to vote online for their favorites in all sorts of categories, and every year Chandler and Sierra love to vote and be a part of it. Kind of silly I know, but it makes them happy.

Anywho, this year Duane "The Rock" Johnson hosted and he was incredible! If you are interested in who won and some of the highlights, click on this link. ENJOY!

Welcome to the club Cam!

Since Megan was in town watching my kids we decided to plan Cameron going to the temple around when Megan could come, so Wednesday (April 1st) we had the opportunity to go to the temple with Cameron, which was an incredible experience! It was so crazy to me that I was in the temple with my youngest sibling, my baby brother. I loved it!

Happy Anniversary!

So, David and I decided to go out of town for our anniversary -- with NO kids (thanks to Megan)! We flew to L.A. and had a much needed break. This is us at the airport, waiting to leave...and boy were we anxious! The weather was fantastic, around 68-70 degrees and we ended up keeping ourselves pretty busy most of the time.

DAY 1 we went to the Santa Monica Pier and had fish and chips, laid on the beach to get some sun and take in the yummy sea air! Headed back to the hotel and went swimming and went to dinner.

DAY 2 we spent the whole day at Six Flags! We went on every ride at least twice and we even got to experience "X2", which was David's favorite - not mine!

DAY 3 we slept in till ten, which was AWESOME, went to IHOP for breakfast, lounged for a bit and then headed to the NBC Studios to attend a taping of "The Tonight Show with Jay Leno". Vin Desil was the main attraction, cause "Fast and Furious" is coming out and Gavin DeGraw was the musical guest and he sounded great! For dinner we went to a Noodle House called Pho Citi and it was so yummy!

Day 4 we had no plans and so we decided to catch an earlier plane out to get home before the kids got to bed. We got home and thought....What were we thinking?????

All in all, a successful trip and only our second one alone without kids in the nine years we've been married. Hope I don't have to wait too long for the next one :)
